When will he meet the poor?

Mr. Manmohan Singh, of late, is 24/7/365 engaging himself in foreign tours. Some, may view, this as unavoidable.

He is spending most of his time, giving explanations to the American President or the Chinese Supremo, like a student giving his excuses to the fault-finding teachers for late-coming or not doing home work.

The fun is, even the American President is interested more in Afro-Asian affairs rather than in attending to the domestic rot of unemployment. For example, he is acting as an Agent of the American nuclear junk machinery sellers who want to dump their machinery in India, without any indemnifying obligations for the dangers, losses and risks the nuclear plants pose to human safety. He is bargaining with Mr. Singh, for a lax compensation legislation in respect of nuclear disasters. Though there can be nothing wrong for the President of a country to bargain on behalf of exporters of his Nation, should the nuclear junk be his top-priority?

Back to Mr. Manmohan Singh. Busy he is, in his foreign jaunts, he lost his touch with the poor or even the lower middle classes in India. He is not even surrounded by M.Ps., who to some extent, represented by the people of India. His day starts with top bureaucrats, top industrialists and the hand-picked crony journalists. When will he peep through the lowly huts of the poor in some Chattisgadh or Jharkhand? Mr. Rahul Gandhi, at least makes some semblances of meeting the deprived and soothing their feelings. Mr. Singh has no such calms. It is not in his blood.

This is the misfortune of India. A Prime Minister, staying aloof from the people, he rules!
